Ecomium out of Derby

Ecomium, a best-priced 20-1 shot for the Vodafone Derby, will miss the race after suffering a minor setback.

The son of Sadler’s Wells was an impressive five-length winner of a maiden event at Newmarket last month on his first racecourse start.

He was 20-1 with William Hill for the June 5 Classic after that run but trainer Jeremy Noseda has confirmed he will bypass the race.

He told www.jeremynoseda.com: “Unfortunately, Ecomium will not be able to run in the Derby. He has a corn in his right front foot, which has come at a critical time in his preparations.

“Therefore, we will not be able to have him fit enough for a crack at the Epsom classic.”
