Fog threatens Cheltenham card

There will be an inspection at Cheltenham at 12.30pm today after the track became shrouded in thick fog.

The first race is due off at 12.50 and the track’s managing director, Edward Gillespie, told attheraces: “We will inspect at 12.30 and if necessary we can delay the start of racing until 2pm and if it is still bad then we’ll have to abandon.

“It isn’t raceable at the moment but we are reasonably optimistic.

“If we do start at 2pm we will try and run as many races as possible.”
