Kieran Kelly remains in a critical condition in the intensive care unit of Dublin’s Beaumont Hospital after suffering serious head injuries in a fall at Kilbeggan.

“Kieran remains critically ill on a life-support machine and his general condition is unchanged,” said Irish Turf Club medical officer Walter Halley this afternoon.

“Kieran’s family wish to express their sincere thanks to everyone in racing and the general public for their support.”

The top Irish jump jockey sustained his injuries in a fall from Balmy Native, trained by his boss Dessie Hughes, in the Joe Cooney Memorial Handicap Chase last Friday.

Kelly, 25, gained his first Cheltenham Festival success in March on Hardy Eustace for Hughes in the Royal & SunAlliance Novices’ Hurdle.
