Black Sam faces four rivals

Black Sam Bellamy will bid to follow up last month’s Leopardstown victory in the Golan EBF Mooresbridge Stakes at the Curragh on Sunday.

The Aidan O’Brien-trained four-year-old will face four rivals in the Group Three contest. They are Mkuzi, Miss Honorine, Wrong Key and the only British raider the Richard Hannon-trained Nysaean.

Hannon also saddles Al Turf in the Group Three Rock Of Gibraltar EBF Tetrarch Stakes in which the colt will be opposed by O’Brien’s Dalcassian and Franco, the Kevin Prendergast-trained Abunawwas and Chappel Cresent.

The other Group Three contest on the card, the EBF Athasi Stakes, has attracted a nine-runner field and Jim Bolger’s smart filly Danaskaya could start favourite for the seven-furlong test.
