D‘Arcy considering Haven plans

Paul d’Arcy is on the lookout for soft ground for his useful juvenile Indian Haven after an eye-catching run in the Champagne Stakes at Doncaster last week.

A winner on his debut, Indian Haven was then unlucky in the Gimcrack Stakes at York but ran a sound race to finish fifth behind Almushahar having made his challenge widest of all down the middle of the track.

“I thought he ran well considering that he was held up out the back in last and at the line he was only beaten about three lengths by the favourite for the 2000 Guineas,” reported the trainer.

“It was better than York but I don’t want to say anything about that run - it’s just best forgotten.

“But I really think he is a nice colt and he would have been better with some give in the ground.”

Future plans for the son of Indian Ridge will be dependent upon where d’Arcy feels conditions will be most suitable.
