Pat Eddery faces the Jockey Club disciplinary committee this afternoon over the performance of Fantastic Champion at Newmarket in May.

The committee will judge whether the 11-time champion jockey breached rule 158, which requires a rider to take all reasonable measures to ensure his mount obtains the best possible placing.

Trainer Paul d’Arcy also faces charges under rule 155 (ii), regarding his instructions to the rider.

Fantastic Champion beat only one horse home in a 17-runner maiden at Newmarket and the case was referred to Portman Square after he won a handicap at Windsor next time out.
