Leading fancy Love Regardless is still on track for the Sagitta 2000 Guineas after pleasing in a racecourse gallop at Ripon.

The Mark Johnston-trained colt is now set to head straight for the Newmarket Classic next month without a prep race.

The son of Storm Bird had just one run last season when he took a six furlong maiden event at Newcastle, comprehensively accounting for useful prospect Access Denied.

His Middleham handler is thrilled with the progress his horse has made and revealed that he may have another piece of racecourse work next week.

Johnston said: ‘‘We’re perfectly happy with it, he went very well. He may have another gallop next Sunday as he did blow a bit after working but all being well we are on target.

‘‘It is a worry that he is a wee bit inexperienced as he’s only won a maiden but his fitness won’t be a worry, I have taken three horses to the Guineas before without a run but they were quite experienced horses.’’
