Today's Tips: Witches Coll can shed maiden status at Youghal
Liam Twomey’s bitch has run six times without making the breakthrough but has shown more than enough promise to suggest a race of this nature in within her capabilities.
An August pup with plenty of time to improve, she has a little to learn about trapping but her middle and finishing speed should prove too much for her rivals here. All she needs is a little luck in running around the opening bends.
Coolbeggan Lil looks the one to be on with in race six, which is a mini-open sprint. Peter Stead’s bitch looked booked for an easy victory when leading clear to the turn on her most recent start, but was all out at the finish to hold the run of Seaview Lark.
This assignment is certainly no more difficult – arguably easier – and with one of her typically smart breaks she should lead all the way once more. The danger may come from the in-form Inniskeen Flyer, who was behind the selection two runs ago, but got his reward last time. He can fly to the turn, and should be difficult to keep out of the frame.
Shanagarry Ace has finished runner-up in three of his seven outings to date, and can earn reward for his consistency by taking the fourth race for Pat Walsh. The well-bred sort has been finding the trouble spots recently, but his earlier outings indicate he has the pace to lead around in this company.
In a race in which most of the runners are dependent upon leading, he can use his inside line to lead around, and make all the running. The danger may come from Mulberry Falcon, who tends to miss the kick but has middle pace and should be staying on better than most.
