Stamina can win the day for Leezie Lindsay

The semi-finals of the Pat Hennerty Sales Cork Oaks feature on tonight’s 11-race card at Curraheen, and Leezie Lindsay can use her considerable stamina to take the first heat for Francie Murray.

Stamina can win the day for Leezie Lindsay

The lightly raced bitch showed top-class form when winning the Macroom Motor Services Stake over 575 yards at this track in December, and showed her versatility when winning impressively over 525 yards in the first round of this stake.

While she may struggle to lead this time, she is drawn to follow the red-jacketed Rastafari Chic around, and is expected to prove too strong for that rival.

The other semi-final looks quite tricky as Skywalker Pearl is the best drawn runner, but has been below her best in recent outings. If she can make the most of her inside draw by leading around, it’ll take a big effort to reel her in. The value in the race lies with Jaytee Grace, who stays well but may be caught for early dash.

Mumhan Magic can return to winning ways in the seventh race. Denis Fitzgerald’s dog looked a smart prospect when winning at this track on February 27 but was in the wars when upped to 525 next time.

Stepping up to 550 yards for the first time, he looks drawn to lead around this time, and that should make all the difference. Despite his inexperience, he can account for the very talented Test Me.

Round three of the Con and Annie Kirby Memorial takes place in Limerick, and Clares Rocket can strengthen his place at the top of the long-odds market by taking the third heat. Well drawn and likely to be a short price, the exciting June pup can make all at the expense of Ela Alecko.

Eightythreelarch could represent some value in the second heat. Jacqueline McCann’s dog isn’t the quickest early, but he is a real powerhouse from halfway and the make-up of this race could play to his strengths.

There is plenty of potential for trouble amongst the inside runners and if the selection can slip around the opening bend without being impeded, this steady improver should prove too strong for his rivals.

Droopys Roddick came from behind to win last week, but is capable of a much quicker break and can follow up in the opening heat. Pat Buckley’s April pup looks a real prospect, can turn much closer this time, and is preferred to Coolavanny Wendy.
