The veteran jumps jockey was riding Rich Coast for his boss Noel Meade in the Allman Contracts Limited Beginners Chase when they came down at the first fence.

Carberry underwent an operation on a broken femur and is set for a length spell on the sidelines.

Asked when he could make his comeback, the 41-year-old said: “It could be Cheltenham or just before. They’re saying six months, so that’s about March time.

“It seems to be getting better. It’s just about having the patience and letting it heal and trying not to do too much. I’m going back in two weeks to get an X-ray. It should be OK.”
