Most Beautiful looks set to make amends in maiden

A beaten favourite on her debut in Naas, Most Beautiful might be capable of making amends in the opening Irish Stallion farms 2-Y-0 Fillies Maiden in Cork tonight.

The David Wachman-trained Canford Cliffs filly shaped with plenty of promise on her debut, finishing fourth to Madame Thunder, and has a half-length to find with China Eyes, which finished third on that occasion.

China Eyes made the running that day, in a race boosted when the runner-up Rue Bonaparte got off the mark on the same track last week.

But, in the belief that Most Beautiful is open to plenty of improvement, she gets the vote.

Wachman and Wayne Lordan will also have high hopes for Athassel Abbey in the concluding mile and a half fillies maiden.

This Fastnet Rock filly, third on her seasonal debut to Zannda at Leopardstown, ran creditably in hot company, in the listed Salsabil Stakes at Navan, last time.

Beaten six and a half lengths in fifth place, she was behind current Irish 1,000 Guineas second favourite Bocca Baciata, and subsequent Group 3 winners Pleascach and Diamonsandrubies.

That looks rock-solid form and, with a rating of 93, Athassel Abbey should win most maidens. But she might not cope with Dermot Weld’s Variable, beaten (at 1/2) by Hot Sauce on her debut at Gowran Park last month.

Clearly though capable of better, the Sea The Stars filly is expected to step-up significantly and might have the edge over the Wachman filly.

The Michael Halford-trained Russian Soul, held by Bubbly Bellini on form from Navan on Sunday, is not straight-forward but, suited by small fields, might prove best in the four-runner Racing Again June 14th Race.
