Twiston-Davies continues winning run

For the past two weekends Sam Twiston-Davies has won the Paddy Power Gold Cup and guided The New One to victory and he warmed up for the mount on Rocky Creek in the Hennessy Gold Cup by riding a treble at Lingfield.

Twiston-Davies continues winning run

Twiston-Davies is dividing his time between being number one jockey for Paul Nicholls while still riding for his father, Nigel, when he can and it was his dad who provided him with two more winners.

The jockey was keen to push all the praise on to his father after Allthegear No Idea (6-1) came back from over two years off to win the 188Bet Novices’ Hurdle.

“He’s obviously a very good trainer!” said the rider. “He makes me eat my words every day. I keep telling him he needs to go out and attract some new owners and get some new horses and then he brings horses like this back after years off and wins with them.”

“It’s a testament to him that he can bring this fellow back after all that time to win in that ground.”

Milicent Silver (5-6 favourite) ran out an impressive winner of the 188Bet Mares’ Maiden Hurdle for the Twiston-Davies combination.

The jockey then teamed up with Joseph Tuite to win the closing Vijay Sicka Memorial Cup “Junior” Standard Open National Hunt Flat Race on Prince Of Poets (5-1), a race run on the Polytrack.

* Champion jockey Tony McCoy makes his return to action at Fontwell today after a couple of weeks on the sidelines through injury.
