Equestrian: A single fence denied Bertram Allen a chance of successive World Cup wins yesterday in Stuttgart, Germany.

The Wexford 19-year-old made his World Cup debut a memorable one a fortnight ago with a victory in Italy aboard Molly Malone V.

Yesterday, four faults with the 10-year-old grey mare put paid to any repeat, while a similar result for Mayo’s Cameron Hanley and Living The Dream also denied them a place in the jump-off.
