Tarziyna’s time has come

John Oxx’s Tarziyna has to be the choice to land the nap in the Irish Stallion Farms’ EBF Maiden at Sligo tonight.

Tarziyna’s time has come

Unraced as a juvenile, the daughter of Raven’s Pass has produced two promising efforts this season and should now be ready to make it third time lucky.

She began over a mile and a half at Cork last month, finding some trouble in running up the straight, before finishing fourth to Aidan O’Brien’s Just Gorgeous. There was nothing earth shattering about that, but the selection did build on the display when dropped down to ten furlongs at the Curragh nine days ago.

Tarziyna was beaten three and a half lengths into second by Ger Lyons’ well-backed market leader, System Overload, and there was plenty to admire in the way she stuck to her task through the final two furlongs.

Laviniad, formerly trained by Jim Bolger, but now having a first outing for Willie Mullins, and Zaiman, who hinted at better to come when sixth to Apache Trooper at Roscommon, are respected, but Tarziyna still has to get a reasonably confident nod.

Dermot Weld’s somewhat enigmatic Truthwillsetufree is the one to beat in the Kilcawley Construction Sligo Race. She has two ways of running, but appeared back on track at Listowel last time when third to Mm Dazzler and Marchese Marconi.

That contest was over a mile and six, but it is well to remember Truthwillsetufree won her maiden over this course and distance.

Willie McCreery’s Ohh Lala might provide the solution to the Irish Stallion Farms' EBF Median Auction Maiden.

She was a close third behind Stella Street and Jack Naylor at Fairyhouse and behind in ninth was Case Statement, who went on to score at Limerick.
