O’Brien jnr out of Arc contention

Joseph O’Brien will not ride Camelot if this season’s Epsom Derby winner runs in the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe next Sunday.

O’Brien jnr out of Arc contention

O’Brien has partnered the four-times Group One scorer, trained by his father, Aidan, on all five starts to date but is unable to make the weight for Europe’s premier mile-and-a-half contest at Longchamp.

Aidan O’Brien said: “Bar we cut off one of his arms, he (Joseph) will not be on Camelot.

“Nine stone or 8st 13lb is the lowest that Joseph will do, so that weight in the Arc (8st 11lb) is not an option.”

O’Brien snr said at the Curragh yesterday that a decision on a potential trip to Paris is likely to be made on Tuesday or Wednesday.
