Drumlister going in the right direction
He’s a horse who clearly needs to go right-handed, both his successes over fences have come when travelling in that direction, and the more the surface dries out the better.
The selection makes a quick reappearance, having finished second behind Definite Knockoff (rec. 3lbs), who also runs here, at Killarney last Saturday.
Drumlister attempted to make all of the running, but constantly jumped away to his right and it was a miracle was still in contention heading to the final flight.
In the end his antics took their toll and he could not resist the winner on the run-in, going down by a length and a quarter.
The performance wasn’t lost on the handicapper and Drumlister goes up by 6lbs in the future.
The Mullinahone Maiden is one of the better contests on the card, bringing together the likes of Three Kingdoms, Hail and Precious Stone.
Preference is for Three Kingdoms, even if he has a little to find with the other pair on official ratings.
Dermot Weld’s charge is progressive, running his best race to date at Leopardstown last time when a close third behind Something Graceful and subsequent winner, Lebron.
Other winners to emerge from the race are King Of The Picts (4th), Crystal Kangaroo (9th) and Zalanga (11th).
The Mylerstown Maiden Hurdle may be best left to Landenstown Lady, who was strongly fancied at Downpatrick six days ago.
She eventually took second behind Ms Bliss, after her rider lost his irons and the saddle began to slip when the mare blundered four out.
