Caliente poised to get off mark
The hopeful nap vote falls on Eddie Lynam’s Caliente in the Irish Stallion Farms’ EBF Fillies Maiden.
The daughter of Lawman has just one run under her belt, making a decent start at Fairyhouse last month when fourth behind Dane Street.
She stayed on steadily from off the pace in the closing stages and the form was given a minor boost when runner-up, Truthwillsetufree, won next time.
Aidan O’Brien’s Circle is the obvious danger. She was light in the market on her debut at Leopardstown, but performed with promise to be beaten a neck into second by the experienced Romantic Stroll.
O’Brien provides three of the eight runners, all newcomers, in the Irish Stallion Farms’ EBF Maiden for juveniles and, with those who have run looking more than vulnerable, you’d imagine holds the key to this puzzle.
Riding arrangements indicate that Freedom Fighter is the stable choice and he gets the vote.
The selection has got the best of the draw in one and, as a son of Danehill Dancer, the likely heavy surface should not present a problem.
O’Brien’s Unanimous may go off favourite for the Bennettsbridge Maiden, but has been disappointing and must overcome an absence of 90 days.
Preference then is for Joe Murphy’s Consonance, even though he is rated 7lbs inferior to Unanimous.
But at least Consonance is on the upgrade and went through soft ground in good style when grabbed late and beaten a neck by subsequent winner, Our Conor, at Roscommon.
