Leave it to Lambro

WILLIE MULLINS’ Lambro can land the nap in the Madra Irish Dog Food Chase at Punchestown this evening.

Leave it to Lambro

He made no show in the RSA Chase at Cheltenham in March, but has since been afforded a nice break and this represents a far easier assignment.

At Cheltenham Lambro could only manage a rather remote sixth of nine behind Bobs Worth and certainly one hopes he strips in better shape here.

His two previous runs are far more impressive. In the Grade 1 Moriarty Chase at Leopardstown, he finished a creditable third behind Last Instalment and Call The Police.

And prior to that at Naas, Lambro ran a career-best, in testing conditions, when beaten three and a half lengths into second by the top-class Flemenstar.

False Economy is rated 2lbs superior to the selection, but you would have to harbour doubts about him on the surface and Slieveardagh, who has 4lbs to find with Lambro, may be a bigger danger.

Ruby Walsh partners Lambro and he and Mullins can combine to take the Kids Go Free Maiden Hurdle with Are Ya Right Chief.

Are Ya Right Chief is a modest and frustrating sort, but this is a particularly good opportunity and it will be disappointing should he fail to take advantage of it. The seven-year-old ran well at Gowran Park last time, when two lengths runner-up behind Its The Ice I Like, and a repeat of that effort should be good enough.
