Train can recoup losses
A horse who has clearly had his problems, this will only be the fourth race of his life and he still has plenty of scope for improvement.
The Sadler’s Wells gelding went off a very strong favourite at Limerick, but never travelled in the manner one might have expected and could only finish third behind Ri An Domhnaigh and Emotional Dream.
The form appears reasonable, however, and this is a weak contest. Also the fitting of blinkers on the selection may well work the oracle, as they have done with numerous Weld inmates in the past.
Best heat of the evening is the bookings@dundalkstadium.com Race over seven furlongs, which brings together some useful sorts.
The highest rated is Jim Bolger’s Janey Muddles, who has between 2lbs and 18lbs in hand of her rivals.
She was last seen when contesting the Group 3 1000 Guineas Trial at Leopardstown last month, finishing seventh of nine behind Homecoming Queen.
The bare details aren’t impressive, but Janey Muddles pulled much too hard for her own good in the early stages and, as a result, didn’t have a great deal left when asked to quicken in the straight by Kevin Manning.
In the end she was beaten less than four lengths and could easily deliver now, if settling better and giving herself a chance.
The opening Irish Stallion Farms’ EBF Fillies Maiden may revolve around just how well fancied David Wachman’s first-timer Attire, a daughter of Danehill Dancer, is. The vote, though, goes to Kieran Cotter’s Oonagh, who made a decent start when third to Absolute Crackers and Teofolina at Cork. The fifth horse then, Ahimsa, has won in the meantime.
