Morrison set for double delight

Hughie Morrison can make the trip to Nottinghamshire pay today as he looks set for a double with Nazreef and Captain Bellamy at Southwell.

Morrison set for double delight

Nazreef should relish a return to the Fibresand as he tackles the Bet And Watch At bluesq.com Handicap.

Twice a Southwell winner in 2010, Nazreef failed to hit the mark in nine starts on turf last term before embarking on a brief flirtation with hurdling.

He found Grade Two company at Newbury far from ideal, and Morrison was quick to switch him back to his more natural winter discipline at Kempton last month.

Beaten just a length in fourth, Nazreef was possibly a shade unfortunate to clash with the in-form Palace Moon next time.

Beaten two lengths into third, that form was further franked by the winner who added to his tally in a decent event at Lingfield over the weekend.

Eased a couple of pounds in the handicap for those placed runs, Nazreef still has to shoulder top weight here, but promises to be a force to be reckoned with back on this surface.

Stablemate Captain Bellamy holds every chance in the Book Your Tickets On Line At southwell-racecourse.co.uk Handicap.

This four-year-old is far from a world beater but is another who performs well at Southwell, with each of his three career victories coming here.

He does not have that much pace in a finish but he stays the two-mile trip well and can defy a leap in the ratings.

Brunello let down favourite backers last time but is worth another chance in the Play Da Vinci Diamonds At bluesq.com/games Handicap.

Having a first try at one mile, six furlongs, Brunello was beaten into third in an amateur riders’ event at this track last month.

He may just have found that a stretch of his stamina as he had previously just got edged out when second over 12 furlongs also at Southwell.

Trainer David O’Meara reverts to the shorter trip and Brunello is definitely one for the short list.

Three Bards can make it fourth-time lucky in the Mirror Punters Club Maiden Stakes.

He was well beaten on his only try on the turf as a juvenile but has looked much sharper in two all-weather starts to date.

A narrow third on both occasions at Lingfield, Three Bards appeared to have improved again last time and won’t need to find too much more to make the winner’s enclosure.
