Now or never for Glor Na Mara
Jim Bolger’s colt possibly had classic pretensions at one stage, but is a horse who has obviously had problems and has been a major disappointment.
At the start of the season he had a rating of 113, but it has now dropped dramatically by 21lbs to 92.
You could argue that is even an inflated opinion of Glor Na Mara’s true ability, but there is still no getting away from the fact he has a real life now.
The selection ran well at Gowran Park last time, finishing a length and a half second behind Solar Verde.
The form has been working out quite nicely with Solar Verde since taking third in a Dundalk handicap.
The third at Gowran was Fred Fenster and he has scored twice in the meantime. Given a good draw in four, it really is a case of now or never for Glor Na Mara.
The opening Irish Stallion Farms’ EBF Maiden may be best left to Michael Halford’s Hongkong Dancer, although being drawn in 13 is a worry.
He ran really well when second to John Oxx’s well-backed Sambusca at Naas, however, and can make light of the drawback.
Halford’s once-raced Ariyfa gets the vote in the www.dundalkstadium.com Maiden over an extended ten furlongs.
She has been given plenty of time to mature, having chased home Betrothed at Naas in early August.
