Royal Choice can see off Loch Long

HENRY DE BROMHEAD’S Royal Choice has a leading chance in the Tipperary Home Of Hurling Hurdle at Clonmel tonight.

Royal Choice can see off Loch Long

The versatile seven-year-old, who had been chasing, returned to flights at Tramore last month and there was plenty to like about her performance.

Going off a 10-1 shot, in a five-horse affair, she ran a cracker.

Royal Choice tried to make all off the running, only giving best from the final flight and going under by two and a half lengths to Takeyourcapoff, who had a lot more than that in hand of the selection at the weights.

In a tight little contest Loch Long, a close third to Earls Quarter and Rebel Fitz at Galway on Saturday, is rated the main danger.

Ken Condon has his team in fine shape and Peaks Of Fire can do the business for him in the Best Of Luck To Tipperary Maiden Hurdle.

Another versatile sort, he wasn’t disgraced when a length and a half second behind Sun Disc at Down Royal six days ago.

The Mullinahone Maiden brings together a number of disappointing sorts, with the vote going to Michael Halford’s Certerach.

At least the son of Halling has had only one run and may have a future. He showed some promise on his debut at Leopardstown, when six lengths and two and a half lengths third behind Singe The Turf and Jolie Jioconde.

The form received a minor boost with Jolie Jioconde subsequently landing a minor heat at Dundalk.

The Derrinstown Stud Apprentice Claiming Race could be bound for Austin Leahy’s Gra Geal Mo Chroi, who will have the capable Emmet McNamara in the plate.

Gra Geal Mo Chroi flattered to deceive when fourth to Beliar at Tramore, but the 12 furlongs then was further than she wanted to travel.
