Mixed luck for Henderson

NICKY HENDERSON endured a muddling afternoon at Taunton with Shakalakaboomboom providing some compensation for the odds-on defeat of his stablemate Secret World.

Secret World had made a more than satisfactory debut for Henderson to be second behind Act Of Kalanisi at Newbury. But Dona (7-2), who was nine lengths further back in third that day, had other ideas and comprehensively reversed the form in the Enter The Racecard Competition Novices’ Hurdle.

Shakalakaboomboom rescued the Lambourn trainer’s day, following up his comprehensive Kempton win with a slightly less impressive one in the Oxygen Creative Design And Web Development Novices’ Limited Handicap Chase. The 2-1 favourite was pushed hard by Insider Dealer until drawing clear on the run-in.
