Chicago Grey bidding to bounce back
The seven-year-old has taken to fences really well and was in the process of running a big race at Cheltenham in November when he fell at the second-last behind Wayward Prince.
He returned to Prestbury Park a month later and while he was brushed aside by Time For Rupert, the grey ran a race full of promise.
“Chicago Grey runs tomorrow and we’ll try again with him,” Elliott said yesterday.
“He’s come out of his last race really well and his main aim is the four-miler in March.
“It’s a competitive race tomorrow and if he’s placed I’ll be delighted, but his big target this season is the four-miler.
“He goes on any ground so that won’t inconvenience him. He’s a lovely horse.” Noel Meade believes Thegreatjohnbrowne will need to improve to figure in the finish.
However, the six-year-old has looked a natural since switched to fences and is unbeaten in two starts.
“He’s in good form and he’s been good, but this is a big step up for him,” said Meade. “He’ll have to up his game to play with these lads.’’
