Eight looks right number for punters
The progressive four-year-old landed a bumper in fine style at Navan, beating Noel Meade’s hot-pot, Tom Horn, by a length and a half.
Then Eight Is My Number made his debut over flights, back at Navan, and indicated his turn at this game would not be too long delayed.
He was third behind the potentially smart Gagewell Flyer and Buck Barrow and this looks an easier assignment.
Willie Mullins, fresh from a fine treble at Fairyhouse on Wednesday, can figure among the winners again with Wee Giant in the Joe Rea Memorial Hurdle.
His last outing over hurdles saw him score on this track and the selection has since posted two decent efforts on the flat.
His latest outing was a career-best when a creditable sixth to What A Charm in the Leopardstown November Handicap.
Fool’s Wildcat, runner-up behind Osirixamix at Cork on Sunday, gets the nod to go one better in the Martinstown Opportunity Novice Handicap Hurdle.
