Fehily hoping for swift return

NOEL Fehily should be fit to ride Kauto Star in the William Hill King George VI Chase at Kempton on Boxing Day.

Fehily hoping for swift return

Fehily has been the main beneficiary of Ruby Walsh’s unfortunate injury but was then struck down himself when it appeared he had broken his wrist at Newbury last week.

However, after visiting a specialist, Fehily’s injury was confirmed as a dislocation and there is even a possibility he could be riding within the next 10 days.

“I saw the specialist last night and he was over the moon with the wrist,” Fehily told www.betfair.com.

“It was not as bad as I first feared – it was only dislocated and not fractured and broken – and the specialist told me to kick on with it.

“It’s a massive relief as it looked very bleak after the fall on Rivaliste and I could be back riding in the next 10 days, with a possibility that I could even be riding at Cheltenham next week.”

Paul Nicholls, who has provided Fehily with rides on the likes of Master Minded and Silviniaco Conti recently, added: “It is great news for Noel that the injury isn’t as bad as was initially thought.

“I was gutted for him.

“But if he is back for Cheltenham next week, I will have some decent rides waiting for him.”
