Zoom in on down in grade Zoffany
The son of Dansili was more than a shade disappointing in the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot, but is worth another chance with that experience under his belt and dropping down nicely in grade.
The selection went to Ascot on the back of two bloodless successes at home and seemed ill-prepared for the demands of that tough Group 2 contest.
He eventually trailed in sixth behind the impressive Richard Hannon-trained Strong Suit, but will find this a lot easier and is likely to be more than suited to stepping up to seven furlongs for the first time.
Mark Johnston's Stentorian is an interesting challenger. He beat the 4-11 shot, Greek Islands, when taking his maiden at Leicester, but Zoffany remains a promising talent and is readily preferred.
Dessie Hughes has nursed huge improvement out of Swiftmarc and the seven-year-old is the nap choice in the Clonskeagh Maiden.
In three outings for Hughes, Swiftmarc has won twice over flights and finished second here on the level. That run on the flat was his latest appearance and Swiftmarc produced a cracking effort to be beaten a short head by the useful Fantasy King.
Invincible Ash, fresh from landing a valuable handicap at the Curragh on Sunday by five lengths, should probably be an automatic selection for the Clonkeen Fillies Race. But there are suspicions she may be greatly flattered by that display. Being drawn one, as she was, in the sprints over the three days at headquarters seemed to be a massive advantage.
Six sprints in all were run there and the winner in five of them came out of one, with the other drawn in two.
Perhaps, David Wachman's Glorified will prove a better bet. Slowly away in the Group 3 Ballyogan Stakes at Leopardstown last time, she wasn't disgraced in taking sixth behind Gilt Edge Girl.
Sigificantly Invincible Ash (gave 8lbs) was a length and a quarter adrift in seventh spot.
