YEATS is one of five horses taken out of Sunday’s Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe at the latest forfeit stage yesterday.

O’Brien goes for Cadran option for Yeats

Aidan O’Brien left the four-time Ascot Gold Cup winner in the Longchamp race earlier in the week as an option but he’ll now go for the Prix du Cadran on the same card.

O’Brien also took out Hail Caesar but he still has Fame And Glory, Set Sail, Johann Zoffany and Grand Ducal to choose from.

Sir Michael Stoute’s Spanish Moon has been taken out and he will now be trained for possible trips to the Breeders’ Cup, Japan and Hong Kong.

Robert Ribaudo’s Grand Couturier and Elie Lellouche’s Board Meeting were the other two horses omitted at the latest entry stage.

Sea The Stars now heads a field of 19, but that is likely to expand when supplementary entries are allowed on Thursday.

Stacelita and Cavalryman are likely to be supplemented and there is also the chance that Michael Bell will add dual Oaks-winning filly Sariska to the field at a cost of €100,000.

The Longchamp showpiece has a safety limit of 20 runners.

The declarations for the rest of Sunday’s all-star card at Longchamp are also in, with Marcus Tregoning’s Askar Tau set to take on Yeats in the Prix Du Cadran.

John Oxx’s Irish St Leger winner Alandi could also line up while Francois Doumen’s Kasbah Bliss heads the home challenge.

Several British and Irish challengers could take their chance in the Prix de l’Abbaye, with Nunthorpe Stakes hero Borderlescott heading the 16-strong raiding party.

Jeremy Noseda’s Fleeting Spirit could bid to bring back happier memories following her unfortunate start to last year’s contest, while two-year-olds Monsieur Chevalier and Radiohead have been left in.

Dandy Nicholls is double-handed with Strike Up The Band and Tax Free and Triple Aspect could represent William Haggas.

Equiano, Total Gallery and Reverence could make the trip across to Paris along with Hoh Hoh Hoh, Sohraab, Pavershooz, Piccadilly Filly, War Artist and Benbaun.
