Exciting Dunguib poised to deliver in Champion Bumper
Philip Fenton’s very exciting six-year-old gets the nap to land a cracking Grade 1 Paddy Power Champion Bumper.
He produced one of the performances of the season at Cheltenham and, if stripping in similar mood now, should prove particularly hard to beat, even if this does look ferociously competitive.
The son of Presenting travelled like a dream at Cheltenham, before exploding off the home turn to land the Weatherbys’ Champion Bumper by ten lengths.
Fenton believes his stable star is in similar form ahead of his latest assignment.
“He appears to be in great form and we are looking forward to seeing him run again,” said Fenton.
“It could be a trappy little race with just the 10 runners and there is no guaranteed pacemaker other than maybe Luska Lad.”
Jim Dreaper’s Notre Pere is a hopeful choice to provide the solution to the Punchestown Guinness Gold Cup.
The ground is set to ride testing and stamina is going to be all important over this three miles and a furlong.
Runner-up behind Neptune Collonges in the Hennessy at Lepardstown and winner of the three miles and five plus Welsh National at Chepstow, the selection is well equipped in that department.
Imperial Commander is the classiest horse in the contest and was impressive when taking the Ryanair Chase at Cheltenham.
The Ryanair was over two miles and five. It’s the furthest over which he has ever won and that’s an obvious worry.
The Midnight Club gets the vote in the Madra Dog Food Novice Hurdle. He has improved through the season, producing easily his best effort to date when third to Weapons Amnesty at Cheltenham.
Jayo hinted at a return to his best when fifth to Aran Concerto in the Powers’ Gold Cup at Fairyhouse and a drop in class can work the oracle in the Three.ie Novice Chase.
