Thyne Again ready for step up in class

Liam Burke is ready to let Thyne Again take on the big boys in the John Durkan Memorial Punchestown next month following his impressive seasonal reappearance.

Thyne Again ready for step up in class

The seven-year-old, winner of the Irish Arkle at Leopardstown back in January, returned to action at Naas at the end of last month and coasted to a 20-length success.

The gelding is now likely to step up in trip and class at Punchestown next month and Burke is hopeful he can make the grade.

“At the moment we are looking at the John Durkan at Punchestown (December 7). We were thrilled with him at Naas last time but obviously he is going to have to improve again this season, which we hope he has,” said Burke.

“He was fourth in the Arkle at Cheltenham and that form looks good now after the way Tidal Bay won on Sunday.

“War Of Attrition and horses like that will probably be running in the John Durkan so it will be a good test for us to find out if we’re in that league.

“That race is over two and a half miles and we will just take it from there, his pedigree suggests he might get three miles but he has enough speed for two miles.

“He might just get caught out by the best over two miles and he does need some cut in the ground so we will see.”
