Jewel Of The West may be worth risking
Noel Meade’s four-year-old has to leave a disappointing performance at Galway behind, but is surely better than he looked then.
He finished sixth behind Hassanali on that occasion, never really threatening to get in a blow. Previously, however, the selection looked a smart sort when coasting to victory at Bellewstown and may be worth risking.
If the market speaks in his favour then Footy Facts should prove hard to beat in the first division of the Guinness Beginners Chase. He would be far superior to the opposition over flights and should certainly have a bright future at this game.
Robert Tyner’s eight-year-old has not been seen since making no show in the Pertemps Handicap Hurdle Final at the Cheltenham Festival. Before that he finished third to Kazal and Aitmatov in the Grade 2 Boyne Hurdle at Navan and that was a very solid effort.
The second division of the same contest can fall to Colm Murphy’s Total Victory, beaten a short head by Kalderon at Killarney last time.
Keys Pride, who failed by a length to concede Western Devil 23lbs at Killarney, has a leading chance in a very competitive Dawn Milk Handicap Chase.
At Dundalk tonight, David Wachman’s once-raced Oasis Sunset gets the nap in the first division of the Drogheda Fillies Maiden. The daughter of Oasis Dream caught the eye when fourth to Arazan at Leopardstown back in May and the fact she hasn’t been since is hardly a worry, with Wachman’s charges in good form.
Dermot Weld’s Dance Pass, a promising fourth behind Again at the Curragh, can take the second section.
