Count on Cathedral

CATHEDRAL Rock was left with a lot to do last time and he can go one better than his second place with victory at Fakenham this afternoon.

The six-year-old was given a most conservative ride at Huntingdon on Boxing Day and was some 12 lengths off the pace three fences from home.

However, he kept on admirably to finish second and although he would probably not have troubled the winner, it was a fair effort.

That was only a second start over fences for Nick Gifford’s runner and he looks a likely type for the Weatherbys Bloodstock Insurance Beginners’ Chase.

Sainte Kadette should appreciate the drop in class for the Fakenham “National Hunt” Novices’ Hurdle.

A winner at Cheltenham on her debut for David Pipe, the four-year-old found it too big an ask when stepped up to Grade Two company back at that track last time.

Sainte Kadette raced far too keenly that day and it was no surprise to see her fade behind leading Triumph Hurdle hope Franchoek.

Pipe has given the filly plenty of time to get over those exertions in November and it would be no surprise if she bounced back to winning form here.

Thunder Rock can make it two wins from three starts over fences in the Norfolk Arc Novices’ Chase.

He made amends for falling first time out when winning at Ludlow and the likely good ground here should be in his favour.

Alpha Gamble can continue on the upward curve with a win in Plumpton’s skybet.com Handicap Chase.
