Eskadron can cheat low draw

GER LYONS' Eskadron, despite the dreaded number one draw, will take all the beating in the opening Ballymore Median Auction Maiden at Sligo this afternoon.

The Mark Of Esteem gelding should now be primed to strike, following two promising efforts of late.

At Gowran Park, he was beaten a length into second by Xinji in a contest which has worked out particularly well.

Star Inside, Great Sphinx, and So Amazing, who were all behind the selection, have won in the meantime.

Eskadron's latest effort saw him touched off late by well-regarded Warriors Key at the Curragh and everything points to him going close again.

District Six, who has 3lbs in hand of Eskadron and rested since disappointing behind Dimenticata at Leopardstown in July, and Coral Creek, runner-up to Derpat on this track, are the dangers. They are, however, both badly drawn as well.

Breaking Silence is the choice to make a winning debut over flights in the Tom Hunt Motors Suzuki Maiden Hurdle.

Tom Taaffe's gelding took an ordinary bumper at Cork back in June, but impressed with the manner in which he buckled down in the closing stages. This is a gentle introduction to the jumping game.

Dermot Weld's Stolen Light gets a hopeful nod in the Racecard Advertisement @ Sligo Maiden.

There is no doubt he has the best flat form on offer, but this ten furlongs is surely the minimum required.

Stolen Light comes here on the back of an all-the-way success over hurdles at Killarney last time.
