THE ground at Killarney yesterday was officially yielding to soft and if it hasn’t dried out too much by tonight then Coolnahilla can land the M D O’Shea and Sons Handicap Chase.

Liam Burke’s eight-year-old simply revels in testing conditions, as he proved at Listowel last time.

He destroyed the opposition on that occasion, beating Jasmin D’Oudairies unextended by 20 lengths.

Prior to Listowel, the selection had been edging up the weights-for getting beaten. But a rise of just 8lbs for his latest performance could not be described as in any way harsh.

He stays and jumps for fun and should Burke decide to allow him take his chance then a big run should be forthcoming from an in-form horse!

That’s An Idea, now in the care of David Wachman, having been bought out of Margaret Mullins’, gets the vote in the Killarney Vintners’ Maiden Hurdle.

He looked a decent horse in the making when taking bumpers at Clonmel and Limerick. That’s An Idea now makes his debout over flights, but jumping shouldn’t be a problem, considering he is already a winning pointer.

Poachin Again, Ultimate Accolade and Sir Oj are the big three in the McSweeney Arms Hurdle, but you couldn’t describe any of the trio as overly-reliable.

Poachin Again, the highest rated in the contest, gets the vote. Successful at odds of 1-3 at Punchestown in February, he was subsequently out of his depth behind Kim Fontaine at Thurles and Macs Joy at Fairyhouse.

Warrens Castle, absent since scoring in a canter over hurdles at Navan in July, has always shaped like a chaser and is the choice in the Irish Stallion Farms Beginners Chase.
