Geraghty set to double up
Paul Carberry continues on the easy list, following a fall from Beachcomber Bay in a novice chase at Fairyhouse on Saturday, but Noel Meade has found a more than adequate replacement in Geraghty for his Royal All Star in the Pat O’Hare Bookmakers’ Maiden Hurdle.
The selection produced his best effort so far when beaten a length by Private Ben at Down Royal last month. That’s ordinary form, but still appears to give Royal All Star a big edge in this very moderate event.
Hume Castle has to get the vote to take the second contest, another maiden hurdle sponsored by Pat O’Hare. He made little show over fences behind One Night Out at Fairyhouse, but in the context of this test is better judged on his half a length second to Pelican Brief (rec. 15lbs) in a handicap hurdle at Down Royal previously.
The nap falls on Le-Monde to make a winning debut over fences in the two mile and six Beginners Chase. He has gone from strength to strength of late and, immediately after scoring at Clonmel last time, David Wachman said he would go over fences before the end off the year to take advantage of the weight allowance the four-year-old’s get.
Le-Monde was impressive at Clonmel that day, showing buckets of stamina to beat Camden Tanner a length and a half - it was a further 20 lengths back to the third - in a three mile hurdle on extremely testing ground.
Ringrooma, not disgraced when third to well-supported market leader Light On The Broom at Clonmel on Sunday, gets the nod to land the Bumper.
