Avoca should not be Mist
Mullins' charges, Hedgehunter aside, nearly all performed poorly at the Cheltenham Festival and have mostly struggled in the meantime.
As regards Avoca Mist it has largely been a case thus far of unfulfilled promise. Certainly, she appeared to have a bright future in March of last year when taking a decent Fairyhouse bumper.
The daughter of Luso, however, hinted at Cork on Saturday that another turn for her may not be too far away.
She didn't enjoy the run of the contest, but was noted doing all her best work at the finish when third to Tippeenan Lass and Talktothetail.
A further three furlongs to travel now can only be a plus.
In-form trainer, Tony Martin, is the man to have on your side later in the night. He shouldn't leave empty-handed and has possibilities of a treble.
Martin's The Royal Dub, runner-up over flights behind Best All Stars at Clonmel and with plenty of experience over fences, can take the Horse and Jockey Beginners Chase.
His Poker Pal, well supported in the betting ring to take a handicap on this track in February - he unseated Robbie McNally at the sixth - is the choice in the Rock Of Cashel Beginners Chase.
If the market speaks in favour of Martin's Millanymare, in the Martinstown Opportunity Handicap Chase, then that should be respected.
She is very well treated right now at this game and, whatever her fate here, is surely a winner just waiting to happen!
