Door looks wide open for Sharesha

JOHN OXX and Johhny Murtagh can combine for a short-priced double with Sharesha and Parshawar at Clonmel today.

Door looks wide open for Sharesha

The mildly frustrating Sharesha has to be fancied to get off the mark in the opening Moangarriffe Fillies Maiden. The daughter of Ashkalani has been knocking on the door since early in the campaign and may well find it wide open now!

She ran her best race to date at the Curragh last time, going down by a neck to Former Senator. That was a useful effort, considering Former Senator went on to score at Listowel.

The danger is the even more frustrating Declan Gillespie trained Final Opinion, second four times in-a-row now, who was beaten two lengths by another Oxx inmate, Kassabat, at Roscommon last time.

Parshawar is difficult to oppose in the mile and a half Russelstown Maiden. The son of In The Wings was strongly fancied to make a winning debut at Listowel six days ago.

Backed from 11-10 to 4-6, he proved no match for In The Horizon in the closing stages. Parshawar was beaten two lengths, but is likely to come on plenty for the run and looks too good for these.

The long absent Noel Meade trained Sir Oj is the choice to provide the solution to the Moanroe Maiden Hurdle. The six-year-old hasn’t been seen since landing a bumper at Galway back in October. He will, however, surely have been well schooled for this test and it does appear a weak contest.

Near Dunleer, beaten half a length by Mount George at Limerick, has a leading chance of going one better in the Ballypatrick Handicap. Ask The Accountant, fourth of five to Banasan at Galway, is dropped in class in the Demense Mares Beginners Chase.
