Guest and Haigh hit with fines
The Jockey Club’s disciplinary panel found both handlers in breach after the urine of the horse was found to contain phenylbutazone and oxyphenbutazone following her seventh-place finish in the Albany Stakes at York on June 17.
Haigh was the filly’s trainer until owner Willie McKay switched Ooh Aah Camara to Guest’s care just 48 hours before the race.
The disciplinary panel found Haigh had deliberately administered bute to Ooh Aah Camara without therapeutic justification and had failed to ensure such administration was brought to the attention of Guest on the same day the filly was transferred to his yard.
Haigh was fined £1,000 and £2,500 for each offence respectively.
Guest was satisfied with his punishment and has no plans to contest the decision.
He said: “I’ve got the minimum fine and it’s just one of those unfortunate things.”
