Angel looks heavenly for punters

MARK JOHNSTON has had some brilliant two-year-olds pass through his hands in the last few years, but not all of them have done the business at the first time of asking.

The likes of Lucky Story, Pearl Of Love and Russian Valour have generally come on for their debut runs, and the same can be expected of Love Angel in the Sharp Minds Winners Welcome Maiden Stakes at Ayr today.

The son of Woodman showed plenty of ability at Newmarket, racing up with the pace before staying on for fourth, beaten three lengths. The three in front of him came from the stables of Loder, Godolphin and Hills respectively and Love Angel would only need to have made the normal sort of progression from that to be hard to beat.

David Barron’s Wahoo Sam is in the form of his life and can continue his good run in the 10-furlong Sharp Minds Betfair: Best Odds Handicap.

The four-year-old does not have that many miles on the clock and is in search of a hat-trick after two wins at Hamilton, the latest of which saw him make all for a three-quarter-length success over Apache Point. A 3lb rise in the weights does not appear too punitive.

Wood Dalling landed a bit of a gamble at Carlisle last Friday and now he has rediscovered the winning touch after a three-year gap, he should follow up in the Sharp Minds Betfair: Bet In Running Handicap.
