Windsor Boy can follow up
Edward O’Grady’s charge scrambled to victory at Galway, but was far more impressive here on Sunday. Well supported in the market, he stayed on doggedly in the closing stages to beat Dangerousdanmagru.
Dangerousdanmagru was in receipt 23lbs and boosted the form when scoring in fine style later in the week.
The frustrating Tipper Road has been found a good opportunity by Pat Hughes in the opening Lynch’s Bakery Claiming Race.
He was beaten about three and a half lengths when seventh behind Penny Rich (rec. 1lb) at Galway earlier in the month and is now much favoured by the weights.
Venerable Ballygowan Beauty makes his second appearance of the week in the Edmond Whelan Memorial Handicap Hurdle. He won in tremendous style on Thursday and the handicapper didn’t over-react, giving him a 7lbs penalty. Tommy Walker’s tough customer gets the nod.
Barrow Bridge is yet another having a second outing and holds obvious prospects in the McEligott’s Tralee Rover Maiden Hurdle. He finished runner-up up behind stable companion, Arachine, six days ago and, as that was his first outing for a long time, is entitled to come on plenty for the outing.
At Punchestown tomorrow, Barrack Buster gets the nap to take the Total Events Rental Hurdle. Martin Brassil’s charge is a very useful sort, putting up a decent display at Kilbeggan last time to win a handicap hurdle by ten lengths under top weight of 12-0.
The Next Man, a somewhat unlucky loser at Galway, can set the record straight in the Event Centre Maiden Hurdle.
That race was won by Royalette, but the selection was moving really well when hampered two out. He ran on to be only beaten a little over a length and an extra half mile now should work in his favour.
Dizzy’s Dream, who never quite reached the heights which might have been expected as a novice hurdler, can make a winning debut over fences in the Beginners ’Chase. He finished up last season by taking third to Arch Stanton at the Punchestown Festival and this was always going to be his game.
