Bellamy can get punters in the Black

AIDAN O’BRIEN and Michael Kinane, who made an excellent start to the flat campaign when teaming-up for a double at the Curragh last Sunday, have live prospects of a treble at Leopardstown this afternoon.

Bellamy can get punters in the Black

Group One winner Black Sam Bellamy, a full-brother to Galileo, can make a triumphant return in the Listed Alleged Stakes for O’Brien and Kinane.

He was thought good enough last year to contest both the French Derby (Chantilly) and the Prix de L’Arc de Triomphe (Longchamp) and wasn’t disgraced in either of them.

His best day, however, came in Italy on his final outing as a three-year-old when digging deep to narrowly land a mile and a half Group One at San Siro.

This is by no means an easy task for Black Sam Bellamy, who has to concede wieght all round, but he gets the nod to concede 10lbs to last weekend’s easy Irish Lincoln winner, Livadiya.

Catcher In The Rye is fancied to get the Ballydoyle wagon rolling in the opening March Maiden.

He was a costly failure on his second outing when failing to justify odds of 1-2 at the Curragh in June, going down by a short head to Con Collins’ European.

That was mildly disappointing, but he’s a horse with plenty scope and may well make into a smart three-year-old!

O’Brien’s once-raced Roosevelt gets the nap to do the business in the Ashmount Maiden. He made his debut at Cork in October and was noted doing all his best work at the end of a mile when fourth behind Kevin Prendergast’s Eklim.

Dermot Weld’s charges appear well forward, on the evidence of the Curragh six days ago, and his Dimitova is the choice in the EBF Fillies Maiden.

She showed promise last season, particularly when chasing home In The limelight at Navan, and can prove too strong for the Ballydoyle newcomer, Pearl Moon, who is by Danehill.

At Cork tomorrow Cheltenham failure, Adamant Approach, can get back on the winning trail in the FBD Brokers’ Novice Chase. Everything that could go wrong with Willie Mullins’ charges at the Festival went wrong, with Adamant Approach falling at the second in the Artkle, won by Azertyuiop. The selection, however, is a very talented horse, as he showed when scoring in a canter, prior to Cheltenham, at Punchestown. O’Brien’s newcomer Devil Moon is the safest proposition in the EBF Maiden. A 400,000 purchase at Goffs, he is by Danehill.

Wotsitooya, despite being 3lbs wrong at the weights, gets the vote to land the FBD Insurance Handicap Chase. He returned from a break to turn in an encouraging display when runner-up over flights to My Name’s Not Bin at Clonmel nine days ago.
