Ebaziyan poised to get off the mark
Reported to have lost a shoe when unplaced in Listed company on his final start last season, Ebaziyan showed enough in two previous starts to suggest a contest such as this is well within his capabilities.
Second behind stablemate The Last Hurrah in a 10 furlongs 21-runner Leopardstown maiden in April, Ebaziyan looked an unlucky loser in a similar contest at this circuit the following month.
The selection became upset in the stalls and lost several lengths at the start. He had to come from a long way back in the straight but ran on well to snatch second.
Being by the 1997 Irish Oaks and Prix Royal Oak heroine Ebadiyla, Ebaziyan should be suited by the extra two furlongs and is napped to open his account.
Maria Luisa is the clear form choice in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden, having run Oaks favourite Kitty O’Shea to a head at Navan last term and got within half a length of subsequent Group 3 winner Hazariya over a mile here in April.
The step back in trip mightn’t necessarily work in her favour, however, and preference is for Happy To Chat.
Dermot Weld’s Alzao filly turned in an encouraging first effort when runner-up behind her well-backed stablemate Utterly Heaven over this trip at Leopardstown last month and is sure to come on a bundle.
Weld has double prospects with Majehar in the www.Tipperaryraces.ie Race.
The Marju gelding showed promise in two juvenile starts, and was only three lengths adrift of subsequent Beresford Stakes winner, Albert Hall, when fifth over seven furlongs at the Curragh last September.
