Longer trip will suit New South Wales
Godolphin had high hopes for their three-year-old at the start of the season after his victory for John Oxx in the Group Three Killavullan Stakes at Leopardstown last October.
After wintering in Dubai he returned to Europe to finish sixth of seven behind Dalakhani in the Group One Prix Lupin.
Trainer Saeed bin Suroor dropped him back to Group Three level for the Queen’s Vase at Royal Ascot and he was a creditable fourth behind Shanty Star.
His last start came in the BMW Deutsches Derby at Hamburg back in July, and something was clearly amiss as he
finished last.
New South Wales has been given a break since then and although he faces tough company, the step back up in trip to an
extended mile and three-quarters should see him return to his best.
Alrabab has been progressing really well for Marcus Tregoning of late and she can score a well-deserved Listed win in the Auker Rhodes Blue Parrot Gillies Fillies’ Stakes.
The Nashwan filly has had just the five starts in her life, all of them since August this year, so she is obviously a late-developing type.
Alrabab has notched up three wins on the bounce, the most recent coming when she beat Spanish John by three lengths at Leicester last month. Tregoning steps her back to 10 furlongs, and she looks a good bet.
Joking Apart can come out on top in the first division of the Ellis Decorators EBF Maiden Stakes.
