Soft ground can bring out the best in Bawaader
Bawaader, essentially disappointing thus far, is an Indian Ridge and horses by that stallion love to get their toe in. He gets the nap to take the Bernard Dillon Memorial-Australian Jockey Club Maiden.
The selection was a costly failure at Roscommon eleven days ago, failing by two lengths to Nakiska. That, however, may not have been a bad performance.
Nakiska looks a useful sort and the ten furlongs then appeared to be further than Bawaader wanted to travel.
Previously, over an extended mile at Galway, Weld's colt was only beaten a head by The Carbon Unit and that form has been well advertised in the meantime.
Lake Vostock, clearly no star, has a leading chance in the 12 furlongs Denny Rated Race. Being by Darshaan, he should also handle the surface. He saw out a mile and half really well when beaten three parts of a length by Bowerman at Sligo and is well capable of doing the business in this class.
Feature event is the Irish Stallion Farms' EBF Premier Nursery and the nod here falls on Jim Bolger's Sandie. She was in Listed company when beaten three parts of a length by Sahara Princess at the Curragh last time and when winning her maiden at Leopardstown in April the ground was heavy.
Carthlawn, a horse who has to stay on the bridle for as long as possible and runner-up behind Balakan at Cork on his lastest appearance, might find the opposition to his liking in the Bumper.
