Revue can give Weld a rare Kilbeggan winner

DERMOT WELD doesn’t have many runners at Kilbeggan, so when he sends one to the Westmeath track it is certainly well worth a second glance.

Revue can give Weld a rare Kilbeggan winner

This evening, Weld’s Revue is set to make his jumping debut in the opening Kilbeggan Maiden hurdle and the four-year-old gets the nap.

It has to be said the Sadler’s Wells gelding has been largely disappointing on the flat, but this strapping sort sort may do better over jumps.

He ran a nice race at Galway last week, finishing third behind the gambled on Huxley and Nick The Butler in an 18-runner seven furlongs handicap.

Revue is a versatile sort, however, winning his only race to date over a mile and a half, on fast ground, at Thurles back in April.

The likelihood is that he will have been extensively schooled and is worth risking!

The remarkable success story of Michael Hourigan’s eight-year-old, Central Billing, can continue in the Joe Cooney Memorial Handicap Chase.

He is on a five-timer and reverts back to fences now, having gained a hard-earned victory over hurdles at Galway on Sunday.

Hourigan could initiate a double with Katie Stobling in the Hamill MG Rover Handicap Hurdle.

She seems at home on a quick surface and was a trifle unlucky at Cork on Monday.

Katie Stobling went down by a short head to Ashpark Princess, after being nowhere near as quick over the final flight as the winner.
