The Galway Man set to finally get it together
That he finds it difficult to complete a clear round is beyond dispute, but there was enough encouragement in his recent outing at Thurles, contest won by Baily Mist, to believe him capable of now doing the business.
The selection was in the process of running a big race when disaster struck early on the final circuit.
He jumped and travelled really well and was in front heading to the eleventh. The Galway Man flew that particular obstacle, but stumbled on landing and Paul Carberry was ejected.
Tony Mullins’ charge has always promised much more than he’s delivered, but is now fancied to cope with Wexford winner, Livingstonebramble, and the front-running, Be My Better Half.
The opening Lisronagh Maiden Hurdle is competitive, but the one to beat is Frances Crowley’s Brogella.
The daughter of King’s Theatre made a cracking start over jumps at Fairyhouse, taking second spot behind Show Blessed in a big field.
Previously, then in the care of James Burns, Brogella showed that testing conditions hold no fears for her when landing a Leopardstown 12 furlongs handicap by five lengths.
Cafaygusulla, dropped in class following his third to Hasanpour and Top Strategy at Navan, gets the nod in the Ernst and Young Maiden Hurdle.
Markason, who didn’t stay the extended two miles and six when third to Lord Graney and Candela at Thurles, should run a big race in the BDBC Building Contractors’ Handicap Hurdle.
