Row in with Theseus
The seven-year-old returned from a long break to beat Snob Wells by four and a half lengths at Killarney, as a prelude to heading to Ballybrit.
At Galway, however, he cut little ice in the closing stages, finishing a well beaten sixth behind Half Barrell.
But Theseus ran much better than his final placing might indicate. He travelled really well for most of the journey and was left in front when the trail-blazing King Carew departed the scene at the second last.
In the end, though, a combination of rain-softened ground and the final, punishing, hill found him out and he faded badly in the closing stages.
Dropping back a furlong in trip, a level track and fast surface can see the selection in a a better light now!

Arthur Moore’s gelding was largely disappointing over hurdles, but won well at Wexford, and, like many of his stable companions, is likely to be far more effective at this game.

He loves fast ground and looks up to shrugging off a rise of 7lbs for beating Recess (rec. 17lbs)a length at Naas last week.
Fable, who scored with plenty in hand at Kilbeggan, beat Breffni Flyer four and a half lengths, can enjoy a successful follow-up in the Mitsubishi McCarthy TV and Electrical Novice Chase.
