Jordan Blount will retire from 5v5 international basketball following Ireland's EuroBasket 2029 pre-qualifier against Luxembourg on Monday.
Blount, who plays for Kerry Super League side Killorglin, has represented Ireland at international level for more than a decade. The Cork native has also been part of the Irish 3v3 squad in recent seasons.
"A weird feeling to announce that this evening will be final home game representing Ireland in 5v5 competitions as I am retiring from 5v5 international basketball," Blount said in a post on Instagram.
"Representing Ireland for over a decade at this level has been one of the greatest privileges of my life and something I will always cherish. It’s a known thing to try and leave the jersey better than you found it and I like to think I am doing that. Thank you to @basketball_ireland and everyone who has been on this journey with me!"
Blount left home at 15 to play abroad. He played college basketball in the US for the University of Illinois Chicago before going on to play professionally in Spain and Iceland. Blount returned to Cork in 2022 and joined Neptune before signing for Killorglin in 2024.Â
