Blackwell woke last Saturday a week after collapsing at the end of his British middleweight title fight with Chris Eubank Jnr.
The 25-year-old former British champion was found to have a bleed on the skull and was put into the induced coma by staff at London's St Mary's Hospital to aid his recovery.
Staff gradually reduced his sedatives and the boxer was then able to speak to his family and friends on Sunday.

This evening his opponent Chris Eubank Jnr was “very happy” to hear that Blackwell had begun his road to recovery.
Posting on his Facebook page Eubank Jr also asked if he could come visit his fellow boxer in hospital.
“Very happy to hear Nick Blackwell has finally awoken from his coma after our fight last Saturday,” said Eubank Jr.
“Nick I'd like to come see you if possible, I've got something for you bro.”
As of this time Eubank Jr has not received an answer to his request from Nick, his family or Blackwell’s promoters Hennessy Sports.
