This clip was actually taken last year, but since her friend Lexi posted it on Twitter this weekend it have been shared tens of thousands of times.

Something about her pre-race nerves, the embarrassment of the fall and her admirable determination to complete the race has struck a chord with people around the world.

The clip of the teenager is being used to typify everything from Mondays to title challenges.
